Lexington Historical Society is this year’s recipient of CAAL’s Community Building Award/Grant Program. This ongoing award/grant program has been fulfilling one of the CAAL’s missions to help support local organizations that are engaged in serving the Lexington community. Most recently as part of the program CAAL launched a COVID-19 relief initiative to support the critical operations of organizations and projects during the pandemic.
With this year’s award to Lexington Historical Society, the total donation of CAAL Community Building Award/Grant Program has exceeded $150,000. Past recipients include: Cary Memorial Library Foundation, Community Endowment of Lexington (CEL), METCO College Scholarship Fund of Lexington, Lexington Symphony, Lexington Interfaith Food Pantry, Lexington Education Foundation (LEF), Munroe Center for the Arts, Neighbor Brigade, Lexington Arts and Crafts Society, Inc. (LexArt), Lexington Historical Society, Lexington Community Farm Coalition (LexFarm), New Legacy Cultural Center, Lexington Farmer’s Market, Lexington High School PTO, Art Walk, LexSeeHer, Youth Counseling Connection, Association of Black Citizens of Lexington (ABCL), and Indian Americans of Lexington (IAL)
